We've all had a moment like it. That moment where, as you lean back in your chair laughing, the pit falls out of your stomach and you blurt out, "Guys...where's my purse!?" (And then lots of expletives, I'm only human.)
Yup, my purse was literally stolen out from under me Friday night. Whoever took it was fast, sneaky, and rather impressive, honestly. And to keep it in perspective, they were probably also starving- as the only charge that came through on my credit card was for $11 worth of food. I'm not going to dwell on the obvious suckiness of losing a purse in a foreign country. Instead, let me recount some successful ingredients for dealing with it--
Fellow Celtees who treat you like family after knowing you a month. A bad-ass best friend who would fly down to Argentina to serve justice at a moment's notice. A roommate who is not upset that you have to have the locks changed on her apartment. Parents who'll take a weepy phone call at any hour and calmly remind you of whats really important.
Plus a five-way Skype date on 4 different continents with some of the best people on Earth:
(Do not underestimate how proud of ourselves we were for figuring this out. Andong, London, Chicago, Busan, and Buenos Aires respectively. The internet is so cool.)
There are some things in life I don't have. Good people surrounding me has never been one of them. It makes one realize that a purse is just a purse, after all.
Love from,
Kerk
